AVIAT-STEM
Advanced Hybrid Aviation Propulsion Systems for Deep Tech Excellence and STEM Transformation in HEIs
AVIAT-STEM strengthens Deep Tech innovation capacity in STEM by linking hybrid aviation propulsion validation, AI-enabled engineering, curriculum reform, and research-to-market pathways under Topic 1.
Selected under Topic 1: EIT-HEI-2025-STEM-CAPACITY-BUILDING, AVIAT-STEM supports Higher Education Institutions in embedding Deep Tech innovation, AI-enabled digital engineering, and research-to-market thinking into STEM education. The project uses advanced aviation propulsion validation as a practical learning and innovation environment, connecting technical development with entrepreneurship, IP management, and venture creation.
At the centre of the project is a Deep Tech Centre of Excellence operating as a Living Laboratory. This environment allows students, researchers, staff, and industrial actors to work on real validation challenges linked to hybrid and electric propulsion, AI-based monitoring, Digital Twin development, and embedded systems. These activities are integrated into accredited STEM curricula, laboratory modules, thesis work, and structured innovation training.
AVIAT-STEM also establishes interconnected AI Innovation Hubs and structured commercialization pathways across participating HEIs. By combining curriculum reform, industry-linked validation, harmonised IP workflows, and venture mentoring, the project aims to create a scalable model for Deep Tech STEM transformation and strengthen Europe’s capacity in clean aviation, digital engineering, and technology entrepreneurship.
