Driving Innovation Towards Solutions for Precision Medicine
This Deep Tech Precision Medicine project boosts business, innovation, and entrepreneurship across a consortium of four HEIs, three research institutes, and four supporting companies.
This is a Deep Tech Precision Medicine focused application that aims to enhance the business, innovation and entrepreneurial capacity in Precision Medicine of a consortium of four HEIs (led by Mendel University in Brno) and three major research institutes, supported by four companies (three SMEs and one larger). The HEIs and research institutes have mutually complementary research capacity in Precision Medicine but now want to form a consortium that strengthens student and staff capabilities supported by reinforced and new structures for technology transfer, innovation and start-up company creation. The four companies involved will provide crucial integration of the Knowledge Triangle. Hence, the objectives of the proposal are:
Objective 1 – to establish and run training courses in Deep Tech science and innovation across the consortium – courses will fit into two categories: Deep Tech Precision Medicine courses for business and economics practitioners, and Business/innovation courses in company set-up and building for Deep Tech Precision Medicine practitioners. All leading to the training of at least 810 students, 115 academics and 115 non-academic staff of which 81 students, 35 academics and 35 non-academic staff will enter further mentoring and/or internship programs in compliance with the Deep Tech Talent Initiative
Objective 2 – to drive the scale-up support of at least 12 partner companies and launch at least 2 new start-up companies, all to provide products, goods and/or services that address the needs of present and future Precision Medicine markets
Objective 3 – to consolidate the provision of innovation tools and services to grow our innovation ecosystem through further partnership, and support other HEI consortia to develop their own innovation ecosystems going forward, where possible
In meeting these objectives, the consortium will have delivered on new and innovative, online training courses and mentoring programs for students, academic and non-academic staff in Deep Tech Precision Medicine innovation. In addition, partner companies will have provided internships, and the consortium will have created new start-up companies. The consortium focus on Deep-Tech Precision Medicine and the involvement of advanced digital technologies is in alignment with the smart specialisation strategies of all the participating regions. Ultimately, the consortium activities are intended to lay the foundation for larger networks and innovation ecosystems for the creation of multiple new ventures through the application of cutting-edge technologies to healthcare. By equipping the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs with the tools and expertise they need, the project aims to foster sustainable development in the healthcare sector and enhance the overall well-being of the population. The project vision is to make a substantial contribution to improving high-tech healthcare services for European citizens.
