Building a Transnational Space-Driven Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem through UNIVERSEH–EI
SPACE-INNOVATE@UNI strengthens UNIVERSEH’s alliance-level space innovation capacity by embedding entrepreneurship education, research-to-market pathways, start-up support, and structured Climate-KIC and EIT Food synergies under Topic 2.
Selected under Topic 2: EIT-HEI-2025-BUILDING-SYNERGIES, SPACE-INNOVATE@UNI supports the UNIVERSEH European Space University for Earth and Humanity in becoming a stronger European ecosystem for space-driven innovation and entrepreneurship. The project focuses on helping universities translate space-related science, engineering, Earth observation, satellite data, digital technologies, and future technologies into high-impact innovation for climate action, sustainable food systems, digital transformation, and regional competitiveness.
At the centre of the project is an alliance-wide transformation model that connects institutional governance, innovation education, research valorisation, start-up support, and EIT KIC cooperation. Participating HEIs will use HEInnovate-based diagnostics to strengthen leadership engagement, modernise innovation structures, embed entrepreneurship into curricula, and make start-up support more interoperable across the alliance.
SPACE-INNOVATE@UNI will develop and deliver an Innovation for Future Technologies training programme, supported by mentoring schemes, train-the-trainer activities, co-creation formats, internal matchmaking, and a structured start-up support pipeline. By aligning with EIT Climate-KIC and EIT Food, the project connects space-enabled technologies with climate resilience, Earth observation, sustainable agriculture, food system traceability, and climate-smart value chains. The project aims to position UNIVERSEH as a European reference point for space innovation capacity building, linking university talent and research with EIT ecosystem pathways and market-facing opportunities.
