On 19 and 20 June 2024, the University of Latvia hosted the closing event for the HIVE project, a Cohort 2 initiative funded by the EIT HEI Initiative. The event was inaugurated by Professor Gundars Bērziņš, Rector of the University of Latvia, and Jurģis Miezainis, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Economics. It concluded with a discussion on the project’s sustainability and future co-operation opportunities.
The two-day event highlighted the progress made by the consortium, featuring an introduction to the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office and insights into Latvia’s research work. Participants learned about tools for promoting innovation in entrepreneurship and explored ways to unite Latvia’s innovation ecosystem. Natalie Cernecka, EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative Manager, also spoke on the benefits of joining the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative.
The HIVE project aimed to boost innovation and entrepreneurial capacity among partners by identifying best practices and promoting networking. A key task was to enhance the commercialisation innovation ecosystem and implement institutional change in higher education through a collaboratively developed Innovation Vision Action Plan, set to continue until 2030.
